March 16th, 1950 - July 29th, 2012
Anthony James Martin, 62, passed away peacefully on July 29th surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. Tony was born on March 16, 1950 in Amsterdam NY to the late Carmella Anadio Martin and the late Anthony D. Martin where he was raised and attended school. Tony was employed as an International Business Agent for the I.U.E. retiring in 1999. Tony was known as an avid NY Jets and NY Mets fan, and had a known passion for professional wrestling and thoroughbred racing. Tony was also the sole proprietor of AJM Stables in the Florida thoroughbred racing circuit. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Lydia Martin; his loving children, Tina Gugliemelli Chris of Hagaman, NY; Ross Martin Jessica Fane of Indianapolis, IN; and Erika Martin of Rotterdam, NY, his devoted step children Nina Zabuga Laura Sherman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Dominic Gonzales of Chandler, AZ; and Victoria Gonzales of Amsterdam, NY. Tony was also a devoted grandfather, affectionately known as Poppy to his grandaughter Juliann Valentin. He also leaves behind two more grandhcildren; Christian, and Isabella and several cousins. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday August 16, 2012 at 7:00P.M at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Father O. Robert DeMartinis presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday August 16, 2012 prior to the service beginning at 6P.M. at the funeral home.
