Anthony Mulqueen Tony moved with his family to Florida in 1981. He was 69 years old, and a faithful parishioner of Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Merritt Island. He was a dedicated, enthusiastic volunteer and will be remembered by clergy and fellow parishioners as a gifted, spiritual speaker and lecture. He started his law enforcement career at the age of 24 as a police officer in Baltimore. He went on to become a detective in the Vice Squad in Brevard County. In addition to a successful 25 year career as Senior Security Manager with Harris Corporation, Tony was highly regarded for his many years of service as a Sheriff Reserve with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department. Upon retirement from Harris, Tony went back to work with the Sheriff’s Department as a full time Deputy. He was recently promoted to Sergeant. He will always be remembered for his unquestionable passion as a Deputy. He had a gift of inspiring those around him. Tony will be sadly missed by his peers. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Cathy (nee Hofmeister), his daughters Irene, Katie Devito and Courtney Mulqueen, his sons-in-law, Ray Devito and Chris Lewthwaite, his sister Irene Jones, his brother-in-law, Dick Jones, his grandchildren, Ryan & Lauren Devito , Matthew, Owen & Catherine Lewthwaite, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by, his father, Michael, his mother, Sarah, his sister, Miriam, and his brothers, Michael and Jack. There are no words to express how deeply Tony will be missed by his family and friends. A time of gathering will be held at the Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Viera on Tuesday, August 12th from 2PM to 4PM & 6PM to 8PM. A Rosary will be said at 7:45PM. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Merritt Island on Wednesday, August 13th at 12:00 PM.
