Mr. Anthony Parillo, 86, of Oakland Ave, passed away Friday May6, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Amsterdam on December 1, 1929, the son of the late Paul and Concetta (DiCaprio) Parillo. Tony was a lifelong resident of the area and attended local schools. After helping with his family farm, Tony entered the U.S. Army in 1948. He served in Germany during the reconstruction following World War II. After leaving the army he became the owner of Parillo's Armory Grill, a longtime neighborhood Restaurant and Bar in Amsterdam . He also worked at the former Boss-Linco and Coleco in Amsterdam. Tony devoted his life to his family and cherished the time spent with them. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Tony" to all who knew him. Anthony was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. He married the love of his life, Jeanette LaRose, in November of 1958, and spent 35 beautiful years together until her death in 1993. He is survived by three loving daughters, Karen Parillo of Amsterdam, Kelly (Jeff) Vertucci of Davidsonville, Maryland and Kristine (Eric) Clark of Amsterdam. Eight cherished grandchildren, Anthony Clark, Mollie Clark, Grace Clark, Ryan Vertucci, Katelyn Vertucci, Mary Vertucci , Gabriel James Vertucci II and Francesca Vertucci. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Carl, Angelo, John, Joseph and Ralph, sisters, Nancy, Mary, Josie, Theresa and Caroline. The family would like to take this time to thank Dr. Benoit and the wonderful staff at St. Mary's Health Care, for the professional and loving care given to Anthony in his time of need. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday May 10 ,2016 at 11:15A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam, NY with Father Lawrence J. Decker as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Truax Rd. Amsterdam with full military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday May 9, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Unit 1, Albany, NY 12211 and the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
