Anthony J. Skowyra
May 26th, 1920 - February 3rd, 2017
"Palmer/Brimfield Anthony J. Skowyra, 96, passed away on February 3, 2017. Born May 26, 1920 in Palmer Mass, he was the son of Joseph and Bertha (Tabak) Skowyra. He was raised in Brimfield and graduated from Hitchcock Academy. He previously also resided in the towns of Longmeadow and Ludlow. He proudly served his country in the US ARMY AIR FORCES during WWII. Tony was the Owner/Operator of General Machine in Palmer, MA for 51 years where he was widely known for his specialty in machining, driveshafts and the ability to fix almost anything. He was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in Palmer. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Shari Kenfield and husband John of Princeton, NJ. sisters Clara Sellon & husband Charles of Woburn MA; Theresa Homsher of Cerritos CA and her companion Earle Plumley, and many nieces and nephews who have helped to take care of him the past several years including, Cindy Skowyra whom he lived with for many years in Brimfield, Steven Skowyra of Warren, David Skowyra of Palmer, Les and Jim Skowyra of Brimfield, Paula Haley of Monson and Sarah Knight of Portland OR as well as several other nieces and nephews and his special grandniece MacKenzie Skowyra. He was predeceased by his wife Arlene (Paoletti) Skowyra and siblings, Theodore and Joseph Skowyra, Anne Haley and Alice Smedile. The family wishes to thank the staff and his friends at Orchard Valley where he live for the past year for the outstanding care they gave him and making his last year such a happy one. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 8 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday February 9 at 10:00 am at St. Christophers Church in Brimfield. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Brimfield Cemetery.
