Anthony Gabriel Vargas

Anthony “Tony” Gabriel Vargas, 88, of Pine Grove, CA, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 in Pine Grove, CA. Anthony was born in Salinas, CA on March 25, 1931, a son of the late Gladys (Duran) and Jesus Tony Vargas. Tony served his country in U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was a true cowboy, he was well known for his calf-roping skills and horseback riding. He retired from PGE after 28 years. He was an avid 49er fan and loved watching T.V. Tony is survived by his loving wife, Grace of 29 years; sons, Mark Vargas, of Woodland Hills, CA; Eric Vargas of Fresno, CA; stepdaughters, Lori Porter, of Reno, NV; Kelly (Bud) Tourville, of Rocklin, CA; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by stepson, William Russell Porter, III; sisters, Arlene Moranda, Amelia Sepulvado, Helen Barragan, Dorothy Perez, Dolores Rosaz, Carmen Estrella; and brother, Frank Vargas. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life at American Legion Post 108, 11350 American Legion Dr., Sutter Creek, CA on Sunday, February 16, 2020, 1:00 P.M. Private interment will take place at the Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon, CA. Memorial Contributions may be made to Salvation Army (Drug Rehabilitation Program) 1247 S. Wilson Way Stockton, CA 95205.
