Anthony M. “Mickey” Veich, 87, of Mesa, AZ., passed away peacefully on May 21, 2024. Mickey was born March 26, 1937 in Chicago, IL., the loving son of the late Jacob and Mary Veich, and brother to the late Paula Caputo.

Mickey will forever be remembered as a devoted husband of 57 years to his wife, Marilyn (née Katz) Veich; a faithful father to sons, Mark Veich and Nikolas (Annie) Veich; a proud Dida to his three grandchildren, Kyle, Chandler, and Noelle; and a fun-loving family man and loyal friend to many.

Mickey graduated from Allegan High School, MI. in 1955, prior to joining the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly served from 1955-1959. In 1962, he served in JFK’s inaugural Peace Corps Nepal Group I as a volunteer teaching agriculture. Mickey was a lifelong learner graduating from Compton College in 1962; Cal State, Long Beach, with a B.Sc. in Police Science and Administration in 1966; and Illinois Benedictine College with a M.S. in Management and Organizational Behavior in 1991. Mickey worked for the U.S. Treasury Department in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms from 1967 until retirement in 1987. His posts of duty included Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Foster City, CA., Springfield, VA., and Chicago, IL. In 1997, Mickey and his wife, Marilyn, moved from their longtime home in Naperville, IL. to Mesa, AZ., where they became active members in the Arizona Beagle Rescue group, caring for numerous dogs, including his favorite “foster failure”, Frito. During retirement, Mickey continued pursuing his passions as a business owner and private investigator, photographer and published article writer. His wisdom, strength, insightful and humorous stories, and his devotion and love towards his family, faith, and friends, will be missed dearly.
