Antonio "Tony" Joseph Andre
June 6th, 1931 - October 10th, 2024
Palmer, MA - Antonio "Tony" J. Andre, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on June 6, 1931, in Ludlow, MA, son of John and Marie (Marques) Andre. Tony was raised in Ludlow and after he married his wife Phyllis, they moved to the Palmer area where they resided for over 60 years.
Tony worked for his entire life as a self-employed carpenter, Tony's work was marked by precision and dedication.
He was involved in the civic life of Palmer, where he served as chairman of the Palmer Zoning Board of Appeals. His public service extended further as a committed member of the Police Building Committee and the Town Manager Screening Committee.
His faith guided him as a parishioner of Divine Mercy Church. Tony cherished his moments in nature he took great joy in working in his vegetable garden and took pride in the hard, yet gratifying labor of cutting down trees to stock his home with firewood. His fond routine of walking the streets of Palmer reflected his deep connection to his hometown.
Besides his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis J. (White) Andre in 2020. He is survived by his four children, Diana Doane and her husband Deacon Gary Doane of Palmer with whom Tony lived, Debbie Ingalls and her husband Clifford of Three Rivers, Judith Auclair of Wilbraham and Thomas Andre of Springfield. He also leaves his two cherished granddaughters, Jessica Gasbarino and her husband Ernie, and their children Gabriella and Vincenzo, and Tracey Slovin with her son Zachery Slovin.
A calling hour to honor Tony will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service at St. Anne Cemetery in Three Rivers at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations be made in Tony's memory to Beacon Hospice, 819 Worcester St., Springfield, MA 01151.
