He was born on April 3, 1923, in Ilhavo, Portugal to Antonio Goncalves and Benilde de Maia (Marques) Sarrico. Tony immigrated to the United States in 1941 and then went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947. He met his wife, Dorothy Bettencourt, at the Bluebird Creamery where they both worked, and the two married on October 1, 1950. Tony volunteered with the Walton Volunteer Fire Department during the late 1950's and early 60's. He had a long career with Marysville Tractor which became Tenco. He was a member of the Operating Engineers No. 3 throughout much of his career, and he retired from Tenco in 1986. Tony remained active in his later years with gardening and was particularly gifted at growing orchids.
