April Louise Owens February 7th 1950 – October 19th 2008 April lost her courageous battle with cancer on Oct. 19, 2008. She was born April Louise Clarkson in Seattle on Feb. 7th 1950. Her family moved all over the world traveling with her father, a Marine officer and a helicopter pilot for Air America. She attended high school for three years at the International School of Bangkok in Thailand and then returned to Seattle where she graduated from Shoreline High School in 1969. She then attended Shoreline CC where she met her husband Howard J “Duffy” Owens. April is survived by her husband Duffy; her father Vernon H. Clarkson of Thorp, WA; her sister, Melinda Clarkson of Las Vegas, NV; sons, Scott and Greggory Owens, of Everett; one Granddaughter, Samantha Apryl Owens of Seattle. April loved Science- Fiction/Fantasy and was instrumental in the conception of Norwescon and RustyCon, two Northwest Science-Fiction/Fantasy Conventions. She was an ingenious seamstress, artist, jewelry & costume designer, writer and an ethnic dancer with “The Companions of the Musivere”. She was a very attentive grandmother to Sammi, who enjoyed working on crafts and jewelry with her Grandma. April loved to read, she collected and made dolls, fairies, birds, and dragons. She loved birds; her house was a sanctuary for them inside and out. She raised lovebirds and finches for many years until her illness made it hard for her. April’s eccentric, loving, caring, creative nature will be missed tremendiously by many. Come help us celebrate her life at the 13th Ave. Pub in Lynwood Nov. 15 starting at 6pm.
