Armand Edward Marcotte
July 11th, 1933 - October 8th, 2015
During the afternoon of October 8, 2015, Armand Edward Marcotte passed away in his Clearwater, FL home of sudden heart failure. Armand was 82 years old. Armand was born on July 11, 1933 in Lewiston, ME to Gerard and Rita Marcotte. He had three brothers and two sisters. After graduating from Edward Little High School in 1952, Armand enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He completed basic training at Fort Williams, ME and was based in Puerto Rico. After completing his military service in 1956, Armand married Doris Y. Gagnon on October 19, 1957 and later trained to be an electrician. He worked for International Paper Co. in Jay, ME, as a respected electrician for approximately 35 years. Armand spent the majority of his life in Jay, ME raising four children with his wife Doris. He was a loving husband and father. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish. Armand loved sports in general, excelling athletically in his younger years as a candle pin bowler and competitive fast pitch softball league pitcher. He lovingly supported the multiple sporting interests of his children and was an enthusiastic spectator of various sports in general. Armand enjoyed playing golf and tennis which continued throughout all of his retirement years. In a social setting, Armand tended to be a "life of the party" as someone who enjoyed telling a good joke or two and would help to warm up a dance floor given the opportunity. He loved to play card games such as cribbage along with many of his other family members. Survivors to Armand are his four children inclusive of son, Michael Marcotte and wife Joanne of Auburn, MA, son, Steven Marcotte of Jay, ME, daughter, Ann Marie Cummings of Bristol, CT, and son, Kenneth Marcotte and wife Crizette of Clearwater, FL; 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren; brother, Raymond Marcotte and wife Vera; brother, Leonard Marcotte and wife Rolande; sister, Anita Schenk and husband Randy; sister-in-law, Rose Marcotte; brother-in-law Fernand Gagnon and wife Vivian; sister-in-law Cecile Cyr and husband Roderick; and many other loving nieces, nephews, and relatives. Armand was preceded in death by his immediate family members of wife, Doris Marcotte; parents Gerard and Rita Marcotte; sister, Dora Thibodeau; and brother, Laurence Marcotte. Funeral services will be held at St. Philip Church located at 2365 Turner Road, Auburn, ME on October 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Immediately following the Church service, there will be a placement of ashes ceremony held at Gracelawn Memorial Park located at 980 Turner Street, Auburn, ME. A celebration of life gathering in the Lewiston/Auburn area will be announced at both of the funeral services locations following the cemetery ceremony.
