Arthur "Jack" Beery
November 26th, 1929 - December 7th, 2014
Arthur John "Jack" Beery, a self-described "Bon Voyant," passed away Sunday December 7thth 2014 at the age of 85 at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg Florida. For those who may not be familiar with the term "Bon Voyant" [I most certainly was not], "Bon Voyant" was Jack's playful corruption of "Bon Vivant" (A lover of fine food). Jack fancied himself a lover of grand visions and with good reason. He had a powerful intellect and an equally powerful sense of humor. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Vooght Beery; his brother Bruce A. Beery; his half-brother Donald Wilson Beery and most of the kids he grew up with. He is survived by his wife Rose West-Beery, his sons John David Beery, Peter Douglas Beery (Nanette) and Andrew Bruce Beery (Lori) as well as his step-daughter Susan Phillips (Jeff) and numerous grandchildren including Catherine Joan Beery, Jackie Marie Beery, Claire Elisabeth Beery, Jessica Katherine Phillips, Melissa Carolyn Phillips, Katie Price, Liz Moody, Michael Moody. Jacks' passions were many and varied. They included activities that drew him to the women he loved. His first wife Joan he met while camping and canoeing near Bear Lake in New York. He met his second wife Rose while performing at the St. Petersburg City Theatre where she played his wife. Jack's passions also included Boy Scouts (scout master), international travel, Bridge, golfing and competitive pranking. Jack served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. Professionally, Jack's expertise in sales and manufacturing ultimately led him to take on the role of President of International Operations for Wheelobrator in places that included Brazil and the UK. Funeral Services will be held at Northwest Presbyterian Church, 6330 54th Ave. North, St Petersburg Florida, 33709 at 4:30 PM Saturday December 13th, 2014. Instead of flowers the family requests donations be made to Northwest Presbyterian Church. David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Central Avenue Chapel in St. Petersburg is serving the family.
