Arthur Scott Bell
September 9th, 1924 - June 14th, 2018
Arthur Scott Bell, age 93, entered his final rest at his home June 14, 2018. A long time resident of Gridley, CA, he was born in 1924 in Los Molinos, CA. The fifth of seven children, Art was raised on the family farm where he learned a strong work ethic from his parents that served him well the rest of his life. Upon graduating from Los Molinos High School he entered the U.S. Navy, serving his country 4 years during WWII . In 1946 he married Flora Belle Carrick of Corning, CA. They lived in Chico, later relocating to Gridley to raise their family. Art worked for Wonder Bread Company for 35 years as a salesman/driver. Being an outdoorsman all his life, he loved fishing and hunting. As his family of seven lived in the home he completely remodeled it while working a job that never afforded him two days off in a row. Art enjoyed bowling most of his adult life. In retirement he and Flo enjoyed a Senior Bowling League and ball room dancing into their late 80's, making many cherished friends . He was a member of the Gridley Christian Church, American Legion Post 210, VFW Post 5731, the NRA and National Rifle and Pistol Association. Arthur is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Flora; sister Betty Gallmeister of Anderson; five children: Cella and Wes Brinkley of Orland; Paul and Sheila Bell of Naperville, Il; Carla and Bob Gilbert of Chico; Sydney and Mike Fissori of Libby, MT; John and Patty Bell of Modesto; 11 grandchildren, 1 deceased, and 8 great-grandchildren. Special thanks are extended to Hospice and the care workers who eased his last months. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to a favorite charity. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2018 at Gridley Christian Church.
