Arthur T. "Tom" Brandon Age 100 years, 8 months, and 26 days of Winter Haven, FL passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at his home. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, moved to Palmetto, Florida at an early age, and to Winter Haven in 1938. He served as President of Waverly Growers Cooperative following position of manager for 23 years, and Chief Executive Officer for 1 year. Prior to that he was employed by Winter Haven Citrus Growers for 19 years, where he became Secretary-Treasurer. He was a graduate of the University of Florida where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity. He was past president of Winter Haven Rotary Club, as well as Cypress Gardens Rotary Club. He was a Rotarian for 29 years and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was Past President of Florida Citrus Packers, Florida Tangerine Cooperative, and Citrus Industrial Council; previously served as a Director of Citrus World, Director of Florida Citrus Mutual, member and Chairman of the Shipper's Advisory Council; Director of Florida Citrus Showcase and Secretary of the Florida Club. He was the recipient of the Super Cooperator Award in 1983, and the prestigious John T. Leslie Award in 1985. He was Founding President of Episcopal-Catholic Apartments and is Director Emeritus. For a number of years, he served as a Director of Southeast Bank. He was a Realtor Associate of Cypress Gardens Realty for several years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was discharged as Captain, OMC. He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggy. He is survived by his daughters Sally Brandon of Winter Haven, Genie McBurnett of Bend, OR, and Mary Air of Houston, TX. He has 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Mrs. Martha Reeder and Mrs. Gartrelle Newsome. A memorial service for Tom will be held at Holy Cross Episcopal Church at 11:00 Saturday, February 4, 2017. In lieu of flowers, please direct your contributions to Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Good Shepherd Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
