Arthur Lee Cooper
September 10th, 1956 - March 9th, 2017
Obituary Arthur Lee Cooper, known to his loved ones as Coop, passed away March 9, 2017 at the age of 60 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Coop was born September 10, 1956 to Hazel and James W. Cooper. He enjoyed playing football for Poudre High School and graduated in 1974. Coop continued his education at the University of Colorado Boulder. He graduated in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in political science and government. Coop had a successful career in management and sales with multiple hotel chains across the country, including Marriott International and Radisson Hotels & Resorts. But the accomplishment he was most proud of, was his kids. Coop's family loved and will miss him. He is survived by his children, James A. Cooper and his wife Bri, as well as their daughter Emma Rose; Jennifer (Cooper) Malone and her husband Sean Malone; Samantha Cooper and her husband Ryan Beasley; his father, James W. Cooper; as well as siblings Mark Cooper and Kristin (Cooper) Wossilek; and his stepmom Shiney (Sheri) He enjoyed great film, jazz and dreamed of joining Earth Wind & Fire in his youth - and his adult life. Art had a giant personality and we will all miss his funny stories. Following every joke, he shared with us was the boom of his laughter that could fill any room. One such story he loved was the time he met Mick Jagger on an elevator. Coop was working at the Denver Marriott Hotel and was dressed as a woman for an upcoming meeting where staff presented a skit as part of some new service rollout. Coop told us that the rock legend simply smiled and commented, "Nice Frock." Coop often told his kids that when he grew up he wanted to be Santa Claus. We think he'd be pretty great at it, considering his jolly disposition and love of children, and we hope that's what the future holds for his soul. A gathering of all who wish to celebrate his life will be arranged for later this month or early April, when everyone can gather to share their favorite stories or treasured times. Those wishing to be a part of the celebration can contact Vessey Funeral Service or Mark Cooper on Facebook.
