Life Legacy Arthur Corpuz Sr, 74, died of complicated health issues on November 25, 2017 in Salinas, California, with his family by his side. Arthur was born on September 24, 1943 in Salinas, California, to Wencislao Corpuz and Norma James Corpuz. Arthur is a native of Soledad, Ca. He attended Gonzales High School. Art worked many jobs to support his family mainly in Agriculture. He worked for Garin Company and Oreggia Farms in Gonzales. Art was a great family man and a loving father. He married Lydia Ruiz Corpuz in 1962. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and gardening. His favorite sports teams are the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants. He enjoyed spending time in his Native Makah culture. He traveled when opportunity arise to celebrate Makah Days in Neah Bay, Washington. Art loved spending time with his family this brought him joy. Another favorite was playing cards especially, Filipino Rummy. Also, the family tradition of BBQ: (slaughter a pig Filipino style) especially in his younger days with his dad, brothers, and best friends Louie Ventura and Frank Jimenez. Most recently he enjoyed spending time with his pet dog “Chico”. Arthur is survived by his Step Mother Nicanora Corpuz of Soledad; brothers Larry Corpuz Tallacus, Raymond (Nellie) Corpuz, James aka Jimmy Corpuz, John aka Jack Corpuz, and sisters Helen Corpuz Randall, and Lucy (Kennith) George. And his 6 children: Verna (Mario) Davila Jr., Arthur (Teresa) Corpuz Jr, Wencislao James(Billie Jo Brogdon) Corpuz, Frank Corpuz, Lilly Corpuz Gomez and Jorge Michael Corpuz. His grandchildren: Timica (Peter)Aguilar, Tatiana (Hector) Villegas, Mario Davila III, Arthur S “Tutu” Corpuz, Armando S Corpuz, Andrea S Corpuz, Anthony S Corpuz, Amanda Corpuz, Nathaniel and Jasmine, Neah Rae Corpuz, Darlene Herrera, Jose Gomez Jr, Elias Gomez, Destiny Gomez, Shyanne Gomez, and several Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Lydia Ruiz Corpuz; parents Wencislao and Norma Corpuz his brothers Stan Corpuz and Greg Corpuz and his sister Barbara Corpuz Conley. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 10am at Saint Theodore’s Catholic Church 116 South Belden St.,Gonzales, CA, then Gonzales Cemetery. Reception to follow at Saint Theodore’s Catholic Church Hall. All are welcome to attend. The family would like to Thank Family and Friends and the Makah Nation.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
