Aspen Mortuaries - Lakewood
Arthur L Frazer
June 11th, 1924 - June 27th, 2018
Arthur L Frazer (Art) Born June 11, 1924 the only child of the late John H Frazer (Jack) and Melanie Braun Frazer in Newark, New Jersey, died Wednesday June 27, 2018 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. He grew up in Oberlin, Ohio where his father was a professor of cello at Oberlin College. It was here that he developed two of his life-long passions: baseball and classical music. Art graduated from Hotchkiss School in Salisbury Connecticut in 1942. He began attending Oberlin College in 1942, but left soon after to join the Army Signal Corps, which served in the Pacific, attached to the Australian Army. He analyzed enemy communications. He was discharged February 1946. After a brief stay in New York City, he moved to Denver, Colorado where he began raising a family and studied law in the evenings. He graduated in 1954 from Westminster Law School, passing the Bar Exam with one of the top scores. An avid fisherman, Art enjoyed both fly-fishing and angling. This was a love that he shared with his family on numerous fishing trips throughout Colorado. He also enjoyed traveling, frequently visiting friends in the United Kingdom and Australia. He worked actively on the Sister Cities program between Lakewood, Colorado and Chester, England. Building on a relationship begun in earliest childhood as friends and neighbors in Oberlin, Ohio, Arthur married Patricia (Patty) Yocom June 29, 1985 in Greenville, Pennsylvania. They both shared a love of classical music and were talented pianists. They were active in the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, loved socializing with friends and neighbors, and together enjoyed their extended family and their cat Y2Kitty. Art had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories, a trait both his children and grandchildren enjoyed. Many of them now attribute their punning to him. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Patty) Yocom Frazer of Golden, Colorado, daughters Elizabeth Vautrain (Bill) of Caulfield, Missouri , Cynthia Covell (Brad) of Boulder, Colorado, sons Steven Frazer (Helen) of Lakewood, Colorado, Thomas Frazer (Patricia) of Gig Harbor, Washington, John Frazer (Patricia) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, step-daughter Rebecca Atkinson (Dwight Luper) of Arvada, Colorado, and step-son David Atkinson (Jeanne) of Jericho, Vermont, grandchildren Tanja Rouintree, Grace Franz, Joshua Vautrain, Paul Covell, Jonathan Covell, Alexander Dounas-Frazer, Dimitri Dounas-Frazer, Somjen Frazer, Lazlo Frazer, Sarah Fraker, Meghan Frazer, Shawn Frazer, and Sarah Luper, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Anne Catriona (Catie) Frazer. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018, 1 :30 pm, @ Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 11500 W. 20th Avenue, Lakewood, Colorado 80215.
