Arthur M. Maness
August 17th, 1929 - December 28th, 2013
Arthur M. Maness, 84, of Cape Canaveral, FL died peacefully in his sleep, Saturday, December 28th while cruising with his wife and daughter. Arthur moved to Florida from Cumberland, Maryland in 1992 after working at Pittsburg Paint and Glass Co. for forty three years. He was a charter member of Local 180 Glass Workers Union. He was the local union president when he retired. He served many years as a delegate to the Western, Md. Labor Council , and served on its executive board. He was a board member of the Cumberland area Labor/Management Committee. Arthur won the David J. Lewis memorial award for contributions to the labor movement in the western Md. Community. He was active in many other civic and community organizations. After moving to Florida Arthur worked at Port Canaveral with McRoberts Security. He was one of the original embarkation team for Disney Crusie Line. He also worked for Mears Transportation until 2010. Arthur was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his son Brian Maness. He is survived by his wife of twenty nine years, Elvita (Bunny) Perts. He is also survived by Granddaughter, Morgan Mixon; sons, Michael Maness and family, David Perts and family and Steve Perts and family; and daughter, Diana Perts. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. At Arthur's request there will be no memorial service. Burial will take place at a later date in Cumberland, Maryland.
