Arthur D. Quackenbush
September 18th, 1941 - June 28th, 2005
Mr. Arthur D. Quackenbush, 63, of Latimer Hill Rd., Town of Canajoharie passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning at his home. Born on September 18, 1941 in the Town of Minden, he was the son of Arthur and Corrine Wohlgemuth Quackenbush. Mr. Quackenbush was a lifelong area resident except for when he served in the United States Navy for 13 years after high school. After serving in the Navy Mr. Quackenbush went to work for General Electric in Schenectady for over 30 years until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the Ames-Sproutbrook United Methodist Church where he at one time served as head of the senior citizens group of the church. Mr. Quackenbush enjoyed flying model airplanes and helicopters, and enjoyed working on small engines. He was also a member of the Mended Hearts Support Group chapter 310 of Albany. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Gorton Quackenbush whom he married in 1967; a son, Casey D. Quackenbush of Ames; a daughter, Vanessa Dillenbeck and her husband Steve of Ames; two sisters, Carolyn Kryzopolski of Tucson, AZ, and Kathryn Bombard of Mariah, NY; three grandchildren, Hailey, Lindsey, and Luke Dillenbeck; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Ames-Sproutbrook United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg DeSalvatore officiating. The burial will take place in the Cobleskill Rural Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. before the service at church. Memorial contributions may be made in Arthur?s memory to the Albany Medical Heart Transplant Unit, P. O. Box 8928, Albany NY 12208 or to the Ames-Sproutbrook United Methodist Church, 613 Latimer Hill Rd., Canajoharie, NY 13317. Arrangements are by the Lenz & Betz funeral home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, NY.
