Arthur Lee Richie
May 12th, 1935 - April 17th, 2020
Arthur Lee Richie, 84, the husband of Linda Sue Snowden Richie, passed away after a brief sickness. He was born May 12, 1935 in Fayette County, Kentucky to the late Homer and Nora Stephens Richie. He graduated from Nicholasville High School in 1953. Arthur accepted Christ as his savior at a young age and attended Grace Baptist Church, later becoming a deacon at Boone's Creek Baptist Church. For the last few years, he has served as a deacon and music leader at New Hope Baptist Church. Arthur had several jobs in his life, he built bridges in Kentucky and Tennessee, operated heavy equipment, became a master mechanic, and worked for Sun Electric where he won many awards and trips. After retiring, trains became Arthur’s favorite hobby, spending many hours working on and learning how to engineer them. His passion would lead him to yet another job, a position at the Bluegrass Railroad Museum. Arthur worked hard to ensure that his grandkids and other children were able to enjoy taking rides on the train. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Sue Snowden Richie, Versailles; children, Pam (Alex) Marshall, Lexington, Joanna (John) Tweet, WA, Nathan (Rachael) Richie, Prestonsburg, and Ramona Richie, Lexington; sisters, Ann Connor, SC and Sue Dickerson, Jessamine County; brother, David Richie, Grant County; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and June Richie, the mother of Pam and Joanna. In addition to his parents, Homer and Nora Stephens Richie, Arthur was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebekah Richie; brothers, Ray Richie and Thomas Richie; and sisters, Dorothy Richie and Elizabeth Richie Wilson. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to the Bluegrass Railroad Museum https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-of-arthur-lee-richie A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for later this year.
