Arthur Loring Schoenstadt passed away on October 6, 2024. He was born on November 8, 1942, in New York City, New York to Arthur Edmund Schoenstadt and Shirley Melba (Sinclair) Schoenstadt. He was the oldest of 4 children.  He married Elizabeth “Betsy” Ann Beardsley on August 29, 1964.  Art was a longtime Professor of Mathematics at the Naval Postgraduate School and retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves.  He served both as the Adjutant and Quartermaster of VFW Post 6849 Spreckels, and as Quartermaster of VFW District 12 Department of CA.  Art was a gregarious gardener, a tester of recipes, and a banjo picking guitar strumming lover of music. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Betsy, and siblings Susan and Richard. Art is survived by his sister Cynthia, daughter Michele, son Arthur, and five grandchildren. 

 

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on November 2nd at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 301 Corral de Tierra Road, Salinas.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Church of the Good Shepherd (Music Program) or to a local Veteran of Foreign Wars Post (VFW) in the name of Arthur L. Schoenstadt.

 

The family would like to thank the first responders of Monterey County for their care on the scene. They would also like to thank Healey Mortuary in Salinas for all their service to the family.
