Arthur R. Schrum Sr.

Arthur R. Schrum Sr., 81, of Johnstown, New York, passed away on April 6, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Arthur was born on June 6, 1942 in Gloversville to the late Arthur and Ella (Barclay) Schrum. On September 30, 1961 he was united in marriage to Elaine Frasier, with whom he has shared the past 62 years. Arthur was a wonderful husband to Elaine, as well as the greatest father and grandfather. He had the greatest love for each and every member of his family, and would go out of his way to help them in any way he could. For his entire adult life, Arthur was an incredibly hard worker. He entered the workforce at the age of 16, and worked until this past December, retiring at the age of”81. He spent his entire career in the distribution and sales of chemicals. He worked for KORKAY Cleaning Products for many years, established his own sales and distribution company named E & A Distributors, and finally worked for Empire Chemical Sales, Inc., which he retired from in 2023. Arthur was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church for many years. His loving family includes his wife, Elaine M. Schrum; his children, Deborah Clemons, Arthur (Maggie) Schrum Jr., Jeffrey (Dixie) Schrum, Michael (Pam) Schrum, and Sherri (Roger) Gordon; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday April 11, 2024 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, NY 12078. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday April 12, 2024 at 11:00AM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, with the Pastor Joyce Royal presiding.
