Arthur Terrones
December 14th, 1929 - December 17th, 2020
Art Terrones, loving husband of Myrna Terrones of Loveland, Colorado passed away on Thursday December 17th, at his home surrounded by family. He was born December 14th, 1929 in Galeton, Colorado to Blas and Gregoria (Benavidez) Terrones. Out of high school he joined the Navy serving from 1948-1952 during the Korean conflict. His training from the Navy included Aviation Electrician School in San Diego and included deployments to Moffat Field CA, Norfolk VA, Port Leioti North Africa, Jacksonville FL and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He graduated from Pueblo College in 1956 and moved to San Jose with his first wife, where he attended San Jose State and landed a job with IBM. After the facility was complete, he transferred to Boulder Colorado and literally helped built a house in Niwot, CO. There wasn’t any challenge he would back down from… truly a jack-of-all-trades. Art worked at IBM for 33 years, excelling in Test Engineering and several Quality positions (Engineering, Manager, Coordinator & Instructor). After his first marriage ended in divorce, he married Myrna Stratton on October 6, 1990. Once retiring from IBM, he kept busy with various jobs doing Quality Audits, teaching Statistical Process Control, teaching Circuit Board Assembly and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Northern Colorado Section of the American Society for Quality. He also spent time working for the Spanish Program in Boulder where he introduced school kids (K-5th grade) to the Spanish language. From 2003-2020 he found his real passion, volunteering in the American Legion Honor Guard and served as Commander for eight of those years. Art was actively engaged in his children’s activities during their youth. He volunteered time with the Boy Scouts of America and in coaching baseball. He loved spending time with his family and always adored doing his ‘classic’ magic tricks for his grandchildren & great-grandchildren and all of them seem to have coins coming out of their ears. One of Art’s greatest joys was getting to travel with his wife Myrna. They found happiness whether they were going to dinner together or taking a special trip. He was most grateful for the time spent this last year once they were both retired. He loved sitting on the front swing or in the yard with Myrna just listening to music and sharing their thoughts. He also relished time with his friends and brothers-in-arms, regularly meeting them for breakfast, coffee, or a beverage at the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Terrones; former spouse, Phyllis Bustillos-Terrones; two sons, Mike and wife Debbie Terrones of Longmont; Chris and wife Sharon Terrones of Mead; 3 daughters, Julie Walker of Loveland, Lisa and husband David Botterill of Pagosa Springs; Valerie Terrones-Montano and husband Victor Montano of Longmont; stepson Leon and wife Debbie Stratton of Berthoud and stepdaughter Angie Stratton of Loveland. One sister Lydia Griffiths of Greeley and one brother, Joe and wife Pam Terrones of Scottsdale, Arizona; 23 Grandchildren, Kyle Terrones, Jessica (James) Park, Nick Borrmann, Austin Borrmann, Samantha Terrones, Sherri Wellmann, David Wellmann, Amber (Ben) Demming, Cherokee (Salvador) Sandoval, Charles (Joanna) Walker, Sequoya Walker, Coto Walker, Shashone Walker, Danielle Botterill, David (Carlie) Botterill, Gabriella Botterill, Benjamin Botterill, Paul (Amber) Stratton, Aaron (Morgan) Stratton, Cole (Chelsea) MacEwen, Courtney MacEwen & Wyatt MacEwen; and 13 great-grandchildren: Andres Peterson, Neelia Boyd, Yubia Wellman, Hunter Deeming, Lakota Walker, Liani Sandoval, Ozaih Sandoval, Jeremiah Walker, Willow Canales, Aden Mires, Emori Mires, Jasper Stratton & Jace Stratton. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Alfred Terrones, Amparo (Ben) Gomez, Edward Terrones, Nash Terrones, Sarah (Solomon) Lopez, Alicia Cardwell, Beatrice Torrez, and his beloved mother-in-law Edna Maki. Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, January 4, 2020 at Foundations Church, 1380 Denver Ave in Loveland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Art Terrones’ name to the Associated Veterans of Loveland Honor Guard. Friends may send condolences at https://www.viegutfuneralhome.com
