In Loving Memory

On September 19, 2024, Ashley Loren (King) Schlager was unexpectedly and peacefully placed into the arms of Jesus.

Ashley Loren (King) Schlager was born at Forsyth Memorial Hospital on October 4, 1984. She was born and raised in Winston Salem, NC near Stanleyville. She spent her youth cheering for the Pfafftown Packers. She attended Old Town Elementary, Northwest Middle and cheered and graduated from North Forsyth High School in 2002. After high school, she attended Forsyth Technical Community College and Natural Touch School of Message Therapy, where she became a certified massage therapist.

Ashley started working at the age of 14 at Allens Dairy Treats. After graduation, Ashley went on to work at Fox and The Hound Restaurant where she met the love of her life, Greg Schlager. It was instant love at first sight and on October 24, 2008, Gregory and Ashley were married surrounded by family and friends. After marriage, Greg joined the US Army, graduated from basic training and the newlywed couple moved to Fort Bragg, NC.

After four years in Fort Bragg, Ashley and her family moved back to the Triad where they became proud homeowners in Walnut Cove, NC. Here they continued to build many memories. They had many pets which were members of their family including their dogs Cara, Brutus, Bucky, Lucy, Obi, Jasmine, and Dixie. They also have goats, chickens, a rooster, fish, birds, a bunny, and a pig Linda. Ashley adored her animals and loved every moment with each of them.

Ashley's loves included children, animals, gardening, arts and crafts, yard selling, dancing and singing. She had many side jobs including a mobile spray tanning business, cheer coach, and several lavish business adventures. Her mother was her friend, and she adored their bond. Ashley had a larger-than-life personality and when her presence was in the room everyone felt it. She always greeted you with the biggest hug and always offered a hand to help. She was the light in anyone's darkness. She helped when and where she could. If you were sad, she wouldn’t leave until you smiled. She never walked away without saying “I love you” and would constantly remind you with random hugs and phone calls. She and Greg loved and adored one another, and she was her kid’s biggest cheerleader, and number one friend. She was the best mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend that she could be and everyone’s favorite aunt. Ashley left us all with a lifetime of memories and happiness that we are all so lucky to carry with us until we see her beautiful face again.

Ashley is survived by her loving husband, Greg Schlager and two beautiful daughters, Summer Jade Schlager and Zoey Grace Schlager. She is also survived by her parents, Michael L. King and Jacqueline J. (Skinner) King. She had one sister, Angela M. (King) Potter who was her right-hand, best friend, and go-to person. They did many activities together including cheerleading, coaching, and raising their children. Along with Angela, Ashley leaves behind her brother-in-law, Carl M. Potter II (husband of Angela 25 years) their children including Aaron, Carissa, Alaya, Alyssa (husband, Deondre), Tamera (daughter Ava), and many other children in the Potter household. Her sisters-in-law Tracy Schlager Crews and Amber Johnson and her other nieces and nephews including Hayden, Strader, Andrew, Bella, Kadence, Harrisen, Makenna, Kayleigh, David, Maylie, and Declan. Her Mother-in-law is Elizebeth Kennedy, Father-in-law is Carl Schlager. Her lifelong friends Christy, Cynthia, Kirsten, Lindsey, Lesley, Heather, and Stephen Bogert (children/Ashley’s God Children Alyssa, Lucas, and Wallace).

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Whalen King, Billie King Bynum, Bill Bynum, Betty Skinner, and Jack Skinner.

The family will have a visitation and viewing from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel, 213 West Mountain Street, Kernersville, NC.
