Audrey Ileene Burroughs passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017. She was the youngest of two children of Seawell and Pearl (Younger) Stanton. Her father was a Malheur County judge and Stanton Boulevard (off I-84 N. outside of Ontario) was named after him. As a child, she lived in Willows and Martinez, CA; Boise, ID; Salt Lake City, UT and Ontario, OR, graduating from Ontario High. She attended University of Oregon, before marrying Burton Boyce (B.B.) Burroughs April 30, 1949. Audrey loved music and her natural talent and abilities were discovered at an early age. She danced ballet and played the piano and violin. At age six, Audrey was featured on a Salt Lake City radio station with her violin. She continued playing throughout her life and later fiddled folk, Irish and country music in her daughter Carol’s band, playing at local county fairs, community gatherings and private parties. She was classically trained, but could play any tune with full accompaniment, or add counter melodies to any song… and in whatever key you wanted; she had perfect pitch. Some of Audrey’s hobbies included gardening, especially roses, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. All of her children’s clothes were homemade. She transferred this love to quilting in later years. Friends and family were all recipients of this talent. In all, over 55 quilts were sewn. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, B.B.; her only son, Burton Jr.; and her sister, Phyllis Nesbitt Rynick. She is survived by her three daughters: Patricia Johnson (Marlyn) of Lake Charles, LA; Cheryl Churchill (Dave) of Boise, ID and Carol Burroughs of Adrian, OR; six grandchildren: Michael, Christopher and Eric Johnson, Cathy (Johnson) Linowski, Christopher Churchill and Kimberly Churchill and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at the Homedale Senior Center on September 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. in Homedale, ID. Service Information
