Betz, Rossi Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home - Gloversville
Audrey C. Gessinger
December 21st, 2023
Audrey Carol Gessinger left for her eternal garden on December 21, 2023. She was ninety-three years old and a lifelong resident of Bleecker, New York. Audrey was the daughter of the late Robert and Laura Adams and began her education in a one room schoolhouse. A 1948 graduate of Gloversville High School, Audrey sewed gloves at her home for Superb Glove Company for twenty years while raising her family of three boys. Later she was employed by Fulton County National Bank for twenty years, retiring in 1992. Audrey, an active member of the Bleecker Community Church ladies circle, served as a laity leader for the group and was Sunday School treasurer. Beautiful bouquets of flowers from her garden decorated the church's alter on Sunday mornings. For several years Audrey was treasurer of the Bleecker Historical Society and was also a member of the Caroga Senior Citizens Club. On June 12, 1948, Audrey was united in marriage to Gerald Gessinger at the Bleecker United Methodist Church. They celebrated their seventy fifth wedding anniversary this year. Audrey had a passion for gardening and patiently waited every year for spring. Early spring, she started growing plants in every windowsill to be planted when the growing season started. Audey couldn't wait and had to dig a hill of potatoes early just to see how they were growing. To her it was like opening a present at Christmas. Her Kennebec potatoes were her pride and joy. After gardening season was over, Audrey with pride and joy canned and froze her garden vegetables for the winter. She then picked up her rifle and was ready to hunt deer with the hunting party. Some years she killed the nicest buck of the season. Once hunting season was over, Audrey was ready to snowmobile with family and friends. There were snowmobile parties many weekends at her home. She was truly a woman of all seasons. Audrey also enjoyed chocolate, jigsaw puzzles and playing pitch with cousin John and Seth. Audrey is survived by her sons, Alan (Barbara) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Raymond (Melanie) of Fultonville, New York; three grandsons, Joshua (Ashley), Seth, and Alan (Alesha); two granddaughters, Bethany (Carmen) and Rene (Jake); and three great grandchildren, Natalia, Hailey, and Odin. In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; her son, Daniel; her sister, Phyllis Adams; and her brother, Robert Adams. The family wishes to thank Audrey's and Jerry's grandson, Seth Gessinger, for his love, dedication, and care these last five years. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11 am to 12 noon on Thursday, December 28th at the Bleecker Community Church, 503 County Route 112, Gloversville, where a Funeral Service will follow at 12 noon with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Bleecker Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Bleecker Community Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, Gloversville. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.brbsfuneral.com
