Audrey Ann Martin
January 28th, 1942 - April 24th, 2023
Audery Ann Martin (Kurkowski) She was born on January 28th, 1942 to Theodore Kurkowski and Rose Kurkowski (Kwasniewski) on a family farm near Grenville, South Dakota where she was raised. She then attended a rural school and then got her GED later in life. She lived in Rapid City, South Dakota and then to Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a candy striper when she was young. This is what got her interested in becoming a CNA. She also worked in a jewelry store fixing and making jewelry. While living in Chicago she met and later married the love of her life Robert John Martin Sr.(March 2, 1935 to September 12, 1980). They were married July 4, 1969 in Webster, South Dakota. They lived in Elmwood Park, Illinois, and were blessed with a daughter, Lisa Marie Martin(November 19,1970). They bought a dairy farm in Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin(1971). Audrey tragically became a widow on September 12, 1980. After that Audrey and Lisa moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin for 2 years then set on to follow her dreams of moving to Phoenix, Arizona(1983). In 1989 she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where she worked at the Frontier Casino as a change girl. She loved working there. In 1993 she moved back to Phoenix, Arizona where she became a grandmother of Shawn Ren Martin on August 18, 1994. In 1999 she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico with her family. She lived here for the next 23 years where she died April 24, 2023. She loved to travel, One of her favorite trips was the one to the Big Island of Hawaiii when Lisa graduated. We covered the whole island in 7 days. Going for motorcycle rides with her friends to Sturgis, South Dakota was another fun time. She also loved going dancing with friends and her sisters. We used to work on a lot of different crafts when she was able to see. Spending time with her family was important to her. She was very smart and was always very organized. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Martin and husband Vincent Loomis. Her grandson Shawn(Marissa wife) Martin. Great Grand Daughters, Malania and Scarette Martin. Great Grandson, Dennis Martin; Her sisters, Dolores Schwartz, Percilla Raeder, and Armella Traner; Her brothers, Dennis(Bernice) Kurkowski and Kennth Kurkowski. Her step son Robert John Martin Jr and wife Paulette and their kids Nicole and Paul; Also many Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert John Martin . Her parents, Theodore and Rose Kurkowski. Sisters Bernice Snaza, Lorraine Weyh, and Diane Waiflein. Brothers, Richard Kurkowski,and Gene Kurkowski. Her celebration of life is going to be held at Tingley Beach on May 20th at 2pm.in Albuquerque New Mexico.
