Audrey Welch Audrey died peacefully on April 23, 2017 of natural causes. She was born March 27, 1926 in Williamsport, Tennessee to Robert and Annie Puckett Hanes. She was the 9th of 10 children, following right behind her twin brother, Aubrey. At the age of 14, she came to Oregon by train to live with her older sister, Era and her husband, Glen Good, on their turkey farm. She attended Lowell High School where she was center on her basketball team. She graduated in 1945, valedictorian of her class. On September 15, 1946, she married Leo Welch. They lived the majority of their lives in the Junction City area. Leo passed away November 3, 2003. Audrey was a homemaker for a number of years, then drove dealer trades for Guaranty for over 30 years, retiring in her 80's. Survivors include Ronald Welch of Junction City, and Kenneth and Tricia Welch of Eugene; 4 grandchildren: Kenneth, Crystal, Aaron, and Catie; 6 great-grandchildren, many cats, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Annie Hanes, and 9 siblings: Loy M. Hanes, Era Good, Robert Hanes, Mildred Hassell, Clyde Hanes, Mitchell Hanes, Bernard Hanes, Aubrey Hanes, and L. Edwin Hanes. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 3pm at the Junction City First Christian Church, 1250 Nyssa St., Junction City, Oregon.
