August F. Gassinger, 72, went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 31, 2014. Born in Baltimore, Maryland and moved Brevard County in 1987. Loved by his wife, Marie E. Gassinger, Sarah Leigh and Michael. Gus was lighted hearted, loving to put people at ease, treating them with respect. He enjoyed making apeople smile, loving to see them laugh. If Gus saw someone who needed a meal he would buy them dinner or a gift card so they could get what they wanted. He helped relocate abandoned dogs when in Maryland. As a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Merritt Island, he served as a Minister of the Sick, a member of Knights of Columbus in Rockledge and belonged to Chrisios. He was also one of FIVE men who built the Divine Mercy priest' residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00pm Monday, September 8, 2014 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church with a dinner reception to follow immediately. All are invited to celebrate Gus and his life. A private family interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery with Military Honors in Bushnell, Florida.
