Augustine Jay Velasquez
July 13th, 1959 - May 20th, 2011
Augustine Jay Velasquez, 51 of Chico, California passed away at Enloe Medical Center on May 20, 2011. He was born in Fontana, California on July 13, 1959. Augie attended First Baptist Elementary in Pomona, California; Harding Military Academy in Glendora, California and public schools. Augie enjoyed the beauty of nature and all its creatures. He joined the U.S. Army and served his Country with honors in Korea. Augie served in Company A 2D Engineers Battalion, 2D Infantry Division and was honorably dicharged in 1988. A cement contractor and master of his trade, Augie created many projects that will endure the test of time. He leaaves behind his daughter, Yana; his son, Augustine "Juno"; sisters, Jody Prusia and Jill Lucas; parents, Linda and Augie Velasquez and his little treasure, ninty-five year old grandmother, Mary Velasquez; and more than a hundred, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. For his short time on Earth he left a giant footprint and will be missed by all who knew him and enjoyed his brand of humor and creative mind.
