Avie C. Chavez, age 70, born October 27, 1943, passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Albuquerque, NM. Avie's life was dedicated to his family and friends, touching the lives of so many. He gave wholeheartedly to anyone who needed help. Avie was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Chavez, his mother, Mauricia Sena and his brother, Leonard Chavez. He is survived by his loving wife, Toni Chavez; 3 children, Bernadette Romero (Ralph), Avie Chavez Jr (Sandy), and Loretta Chavez (Carl); 8 Grandchildren, Avie Chavez III (Latia), Andrew Chavez (Amanda), Richard Romero (Michelle), Michael Chavez (Michelle), Felicia Romero (Daniel), Nicky Romero, Amanda Romero and Sabrina Romero (Valente); great-grandchildren, Christina, Michael Jr, Angelo, Hunter, CAylee, Alizea, Tristan and Alexandra; siblings, Louis Chavez (Virginia), David Chavez (Susan), Lilly Chavez, Frankie Chavez, and Donald Chavez, spouse of Leonard Chavez (Peggy). A viewing will take place on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 12:00 PM with recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 2:00 PM in the Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque Chapel. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, located at 927 Arizona Street SE., with cremation to follow.
