" South Hadley - Barbara Schuchman Battista, 95, of Bayon Dr. passed away on July 2, 2011. She was born October 3, 1915 in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Bertram Frederick and Eugenia Marie (McGrew) Schuchman. She has lived in South Hadley since August of 2010; previously she resided in Avon, CT for 30 years. She was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church in Farmington, Ct and at the Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr, PA. She also volunteered on numerous committees at the Inglis House in Philadelphia, PA. Barbara was an accomplished artist specializing in pastels; she enjoyed playing bridge and attending book groups. She is survived by two sons Christopher Battista and his wife Louise of Stow, MA and Archer B. Battista and his wife Judy of Belchertown. She also leaves two grandchildren Lauren Elizabeth Battista and Alan C. Battista, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by husband, Archie J. Battista in 1968 and siblings Joan Hall and Bertrum Schuchman. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in South Hadley. Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice Life Care, 113 Hampden St., Holyoke, MA 01040. "
