October 5th, 1947 - March 19th, 2024
Barbara Ann Bowes, 76, of Annandale, Virginia passed away on March 19, 2024, beside her loving husband. She was born on October 5, 1947 to Robert and Helen Brinkman in Washington, DC. As a child she described herself as a daredevil and often her mother would find her trying to tightrope walk across the top of the swing set. She briefly attended Mary Washington College before meeting the love of her life and getting married in July of 1967. Barbara dedicated her life to her family. She was a caregiver by nature and it was apparent throughout her life. Barbara was preceeded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of almost 57 years, Ray Bowes, her children Laura Wiant (Fritz), Lisa Lujan (Chris), Angela Getzewich (Brian) and Brian Bowes (Kendra). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Kyle, Jakob, Tyler, Joey, Katelyn, Karissa, Nora, Savannah and Julia and two sisters, Diana Jobson and Sandra Brinkman. A memorial will be held at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 8617 Little River Turnpike Annandale, VA 22003, on Friday April 5, 2024 at 11AM. The service will be followed by a reception in the social hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dementia Society of America at https://dementiasociety.charityproud.org/donate. May she rest in peace.
