Barbara Mae Carter, 93, of Fort Collins and formerly of Eaton, passed away July 25, 2024 in Fort Collins.  She was born May 9, 1931 in Ault to Arthur G. and Margaret (Grassmee) Wykert where she grew up and attended schools.

On January 18, 1947, she married C.H. “Bum”  Carter in Fort Collins.  They operated an accounting firm where she helped Bum for many years.

Barbara was a member of the Weld County Community Education (FCE) Club , formerly the Weld County Extension Homemakers Club, for 60 plus years.  She served as President for several years and in 1995 received the National Heart of FCE Award. In 2006 Barbara received the Colorado FCE Member Of The Year Award. She was instrumental in the collection of books for newborns which were donated to the Monfort Family Birthing Center.

Barbara served as a Den Mother to Cub Scouts, was a member of DAR and belonged to the Eaton Pioneer Society. She served on the Weld County Fair Board, the Weld County Breast Center Coalition, was President of the Greeley Women’s Bowling Association and was President of P.T.C. for the Special Education School in Greeley.

Barbara and Bum enjoyed dancing, spending time at their cabin in Red Feather Lakes and attending Eaton High School and University of Colorado sporting events. She loved to bowl and participated in State and National competitions.

Despite her commitment to many clubs and organizations, Barbara’s biggest commitment was to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children; Teresa Summers, Terry (Kathy) Carter and Ted (Sandy) Carter, six grandchildren; Greg Summers, Brad Carter, Chris Carter, Jaime Price, Brandon Carter and T Jay Carter, 11 great-grandchildren and her sister, Rita Johnson as well as nieces and nephews.
