Barbara Louise Cox Katz

Katz, Barbara Louise Cox passed away on April 8, 2009 at the age of 73. She leaves her loving husband of 57 years: Sonny Katz, a local builder/developer; 3 daughters: Lynn Katz-Hanshaw, an attorney in St. Petersburg, Janice Katz-Gargan, a pediatrician in Las Vegas, NV and Diane Katz-Barns, a retired civil engineer with ODOT. She is survived by her sisters: Patricia Parrish and husband, Tony, Ruth DiLallo and husband, Frank all from Youngstown, OH and a brother: Gary Cox and wife Susan from San Diego, CA. She was predeceased by her sister, Marion Webb Jarell. She had 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom played a huge role in her life. Barbara was a retired school teacher of students with learning disabilities, having returned to school after having her children and acquiring her masters degree. She was active with her church, Hope Lutheran, and enjoyed traveling with her husband, including her favorite celebration - a 50th wedding anniversary cruise with over 2 dozen family members. Barbara will leave innumerable friends from the church and from her life who will miss her unfailing cheerfulness and unwavering loyalty. Barbara will be honored at a memorial service at Hope Lutheran Church, 1801 62nd Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33702 526-7460 on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 11:00am. The family asks that donations in lieu of flowers be made to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast.
