Barbara J. (Furtado)Gorman, 74, formerly from Downey, CA and Providence, RI, passed away in Cocoa Beach, Florida on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. She was the wife of the late George T. Gorman. Born May 7, 1941, in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Olympia (Brown) Furtado. She leaves her sister, Alice Barry of The Villages, Fla. She was also the sister of the late Hilda Barry, Virginia Santos and Anthony Furtado, Jr. She also leaves 13 nieces and nephews: Jeanne Silva of Cranston, Debra Santos of Attleboro, Pamela Cameron of East Greenwich; Linda Grant of Hawaii, Gayle Barry of Tiverton, David Barry of Barrington and the late Donna Barry; Jeffrey Barry and Karen Barry of The Villages, Fla; Michael Furtado of Barrington, Paul Furtado of Warren, Ruth and Diane Furtado of East Providence and 16 great nieces and nephews and 11 great great nieces and nephews. Along with her family, she leaves two stepchildren, Thomas A. Gorman of Cocoa Beach, Fla. and Deborah and her husband Jeff Burroughs of Ca., and their three children, Scott, Sean and Shaelan Burroughs. She was a dedicated and founding member of the Women's Auxiliary for the Knights of Columbus for Our Savior Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She was retired from Hughes Brothers Aircraft, CA. and was an avid and talented painter, crafty ceramic artist and musician. Her funeral will be Thursday, March 31 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Martha's Church, 2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be respectfully omitted.
