Barbara L. Hebert
January 14th, 1947 - May 4th, 2002
" Barbara L. Hebert, 55, of Pine St, died Sat. at home. Born in Palmer, Jan. 14, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Lois (Blakeslee) Hebert (1993) and Raymond J. Hebert with whom she lived. She was a 1964 graduate of Palmer High School and received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Springfield Technical Community College. She also received her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from STCC, and went on to Westfield State College where she earned her BA and Masters in Early Childhood in 1997. Barbara co-founded Rainbow Connection Nursery School and Day Care Center in Palmer in 1982. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for 11 years. Barbara was the Director of the former YMCA/Quaboag Valley Community Day Camp in Palmer for 10 years. In recent years she was an Adjunct Professor for STCC, Holyoke Community College and Quinsigamond College in Worcester. In the past 10 years, Barbara has spent a great deal of time and energy advocating for Breast Cancer Awareness and for the proper treatment of cancer patients. Besides her father, Barbara is survived by two daughters, Laura (Hachigian ) Yarbrough and her husband, John, and their sons Nicholas and Joseph, all of Monson, Sarah (Hachigian) Rollet and her husband Brian and their three daughters, Samantha, Maggie and Abagail, also of Monson. She also leaves a sister Marilynn Cole, and a niece Kimberly Fortune both of Thorndike, and a nephew Kenneth Cole of Beverly. She also leaves her close friend, Roy Vickery of Holyoke. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by burial in Oak Knoll Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 6:00 p.m.– 9:00 p.m. The family would appreciate that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Barb’s Angels, c/o Monson Savings Bank, 146 Main St, Monson, MA 01057. They also would like friends to bring a written memory of Barbara or photo to fill a “Memory Jar” that will be at the funeral home during calling hours. "
