HOBBS, Barbara J. 79, died July 19, 2010. She was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on December 31, 1930 and had lived in Sun City Center, Florida the past 16 years. After graduating in 1952 with a nursing degree from Catherine Spaulding College in Louisville, Kentucky she spent most of her life in Paducah, Kentucky as a Registered Nurse working at the Illinois Central Hospital, Lourdes Hospital and Western Baptist Hospital. Barbara was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center where she served in various ministries and a volunteer at South Bay Hospital. Her husband, Cecil I. Hobbs preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by her son Gabe Hobbs, Daughter-In-Law Renee Hobbs both of Tampa, Florida, grandson Benjamin Hobbs of Lexington, Kentucky and two sisters - Bette Jo Curtsinger and Sara Jackson both of Wingo, Kentucky. There will be a funeral Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center Thursday, July 22nd at 11:00am followed by lunch in the social hall. There will also be a funeral mass Saturday, July 24th at 11:00am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Paducah, Kentucky followed by burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will take place after burial at the St. Thomas More Parish Hall. There will be no visitation in either city. In lieu of flowers you are kindly asked to make a donation to the St. Anthony's Food Pantry at Resurrection Catholic Church, 6819 Krycul Ave, Riverview, Florida 33578.
