Barbara Phylis Judis
May 20th, 1939 - January 23rd, 2016
Barbara Phylis Judis of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away 1/23/2016 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. She was born 5/20/1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Ruben and Ida Richman. She attended Senn High School in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Shaker Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio. She went on to The Ohio State University where she received a Bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1961. Barbara met Bernard through their shared love of dancing while attending Ohio State and they were married for 53 wonderful years. Barbara stayed home from work for many years to raise 4 children in Toledo, Ohio and was a very strong supporter of all her children's many sports teams and other activities. She motivated her children to embrace education, and the fact that all of her children obtained post-graduate degrees is a testament to her. She went on to teach for 30 years at Toledo Public Schools with great enthusiasm and aimed to inspire all of her students to reach their potential. Barbara loved to travel, dance, and read and made friends easily wherever she went. In her later years, Barbara and Bernard moved to Las Vegas and made many new friends. She loved her life there. She was a member of Temple Shomer Emunim for many years while residing in Toledo. She is survived by her loving husband Bernard, children Kimberly(Steven), Jeffrey(Stephanie), Gary(Lori) and Brian(Rebecca). She is survived by grandchildren Jared and Eden Friedman, Jason, Justin and Sari Judis, Michaela and Bailey Judis, and Sarah, Jeremy and Zachary Judis. She is also survived by sister Marlene Rabin and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Private graveside ceremony will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Donations in Barbara's memory can be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, The Nurse-Family Partnership National Service Office or Temple Shomer Emunim.
