Barbara Anne Loosbrock passed away on Monday August 28th, 2023 with her family by her side. She was 91 years old. She leaves behind a legacy of a beautiful voice and a passion for animals. We miss her already. Barbara was born on July 1, 1932 in Kenilworth, IL to her parents, John and Geraldine Moorhead. She graduated from New Trier High School and then, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, with a degree in English Literature. She began a career as a travel agent that would last her lifetime. She met Tom Loosbrock in Chicago, IL in 1967. They married that year and settled in Convent Station, NJ. Barbara continued working as a travel agent with Madison Travel in Madison, NJ until 1997. An avid singer her whole life, Barbara shared her beautiful voice with St. Thomas Moore in Convent Station and the Church of Christ the King in New Vernon, NJ. She also performed in numerous community theater productions in the area. In 1997 Barbara and Tom moved to Hilton Head, SC. Barbara continued as a travel agent with Island Travel and sang at the local parishes of Saint Gregory, Holy Family and Saint Francis by the Sea. She was also a member of the Hilton Head Choral Society for many years. She combined her love of music and animals, traveling to local nursing homes with her beloved golden retrievers bringing joy to the residents with her beautiful voice. Barbara is survived by her daughter Debbie (Jerry) Ter Doest of Hilton Head, SC and son Tom Jr. (Lisa) Loosbrock of Apollo Beach, FL; grandchildren, Dr. Amanda and Jack Ter Doest, and Will and Ben Loosbrock, as well as her brother John and her sister Janet and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Tom and her sister Patty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on Thursday, September 28th, 2023 at 10 AM. Inurnment will follow in the columbarium. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Barbara’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hilton Head Humane Association, where Mom adopted her beloved golden kitty.
