Barbara Ann Mader
November 22nd, 1939 - May 16th, 2024
Barbara A. Mader passed away on May 16, 2024 in Martinez, CA after surviving Alzheimer's for 19 years. Barb was born in Chicago, IL on November 22, 1939 to Rudolph and Mary (nee Sosnowski) Gayer. Barb moved to Anaheim, California in 1962 with her husband, Walter (Wally) where they started their family - the joy of her life! They have five children, Johnny, Robbie, Marian, John and Kimberly. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Marian has three: Nicole, James and Liza. John has two: Tobias (Toby) and Rudolph (Rudy) and Kimberly has one: Gabriel (Gabe); four great grandchildren, Nicole & Wes's children, Wade, Kase & Hannah and Liza's son, Levii. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald Gayer of Portland, OR.
In her day Barb was a great mother, wife and also a wonderful grandmother. Barb was very active in Christ the King Parish participating in many ministries and taught religious education. She was an avid reader and movie goer with her many friends. Barb was a collector of books, bottle openers (300 plus) soap stone carvings, ceramic birds house plants and loved to garden. Barb loved to travel with her mother, friends and later with her husband, Wally.
As a registered nurse at Kaiser hospital in Martinez, Barb applied her nursing skills with a daily passion that made her a special nurse with patients and doctors. She made many friends there. We will miss the very special and wonderful lady.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation & Chapel Blessing service 10 - 10:45 AM, Friday, May 31, 2024 at OAK PARK HILLS CHAPEL, 3111 N. Main St., Walnut Creek, CA. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lafayette, CA.
