Barbara Ann McKenzie

McKenzie, Barbara Ann, age 71, of St. Petersburg, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at St. Anthony's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 17, 1945 to the late Alice L. McKenzie and the late Thomas Kenneth McKenzie who lived in Tewksbury, Massachusetts during Barbara's youth. The family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1954 where Barbara graduated from St. Paul's Catholic High School in 1962. She continued her education, proudly graduating from The Florida State University, class of 1965. She devoted her life to education, teaching elementary grades for 45 years at Holy Family Catholic School in St. Petersburg. She loved taking cruises to exotic places. Traveling with her friends, she visited many destinations that she adored like Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and Norway. An avid sports fan, she held season tickets for many years, faithfully supporting her favorite teams: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Rays and, of course, her Florida State Seminoles! Most of all, she especially loved spending time with her large family, doting on her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Barbara is survived by her siblings: Betty Bordeaux and husband, Danny; Mary Loggins and her husband, Mark; Thomas Mckenzie; Mick McKenzie and his wife, Cindy; Kathy Barry and her husband, Rick; Ron McKenzie and his wife, Ceri; Roy McKenzie and his wife, Gail; several Godchildren whom she adored; numerous nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; many cousins and close friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Goddaughter, Kimberly McKenzie. A visitation will be held Monday, April 3, 2017 from 5-8 PM at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery
