On October 4, 2016, God took another angel home. Barbara Coralee Miller Martingano, 79, of Olympia, Washington, passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Barbara was born January 18, 1937 in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Fay G. and Geneva “Lorraine” Davis. She was raised and received her education in the Tama area. In September of 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert Wayne Young. They had four children and the later divorced. In 1968, Barbara married James R. Sitler. They moved to the Olympia, Washington area in 1969, making the Northwest their home. Not only were they blessed with a son, Jim, but they also adopted Barbara’s children. Barbara was self-employed and started an in-home daycare. She enjoyed bowling and was on a league for many years. The couple later divorced. In 1982, Barbara married Sheldon Miller, forever blending two families. Barbara was an active member of the Olympia Eagles Women’s Auxiliary, where she enjoyed and chaired many of their activities, such as the Seahawks bus, Tweetie Birds, Nighty Night, and The Drillettes to name a few. In 1991, Barbara and Sheldon retired and headed to sunny weather, taking residency in Clearwater, Florida, where they resided until his death. Barbara again started another in-home daycare. In her spare time, she loved going to the beaches in Clearwater, dancing and going to nearby amusement parks. In 2001, once again lucky in love she married the love of her life, Andrew Martingano and they made their home in Dunedin, Florida. Barbara’s passion for always being young at heart and act of selfless giving in so many ways will be how she will be remembered. From dressing up for every event, to wearing a silly hat and donating blood. Her undying love for the Seattle Seahawks, Betty Boop, Karaoke, yellow roses and just having fun with family and friends will never be forgotten. In 2014, Barbara was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought a hard, relentless battle; unfortunately, complications from the chemotherapy took its toll. In December of 2015, the decision was made to bring Barbara and Andy back to Olympia. Barbara and Andy arrived in March of 2016 and resided with their daughter, Christine. The last eight months were filled with a lot of laughter, casino days, smiles and sadness. Barbara was a trouper through all of it. She will always be remembered for the joy, happiness, and quick one liners. Barbara is survived by her husband, Andrew Martingano; two sons, Fay G. Sitler of Olympia, Washington, and James R. Sitler of Centralia, Washington; two daughters, Geneva A. and her husband Joe Sullivan of Olympia, and Christine S. and her husband John Swearingen of Olympia; two stepsons, David Miller of Washington, Daniel Miller of Washington; one stepdaughter, Marion and her husband Randy Cone of Washington; two brothers, Ben F. and his wife Terri Davis of Waiphuii, Hawaii, and Roland C. Davis of Stockton, California; two sisters, Frances L. Kucera of Toledo, Iowa, and Julia A. Forman and her domestic partner, Larry Calhoun of Coralville, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Carol L. Davis; one sister, Alma B. Lehr; one sister-in-law, Pat Davis; and one son, Robert W. Young. Please leave memories of Barbara or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
