Barbara “Babs” Munro died in her home on September 26 2024,                                       on Hilton Head Island, SC.  She was 99.   

 

Mrs. Munro was born on June 27, 1925, in Oakland, CA

to her parents, Earl and Flora Frye.  She moved to the Washington,

DC area with her parents as a young child.  After high school she 

worked for several government agencies.

 

She married Richard Munro in 1949 and moved to Lake Mohawk 

in Sparta, NJ in 1959.  She worked at Picatinny Arsenal

in Wharton, New Jersey as the Assistant to the Department 

Manager for the U.S. Army.  Upon retiring she and Richard 

moved to Hilton Head in 1987. 

 

Mrs. Munro is survived by her sons, Kevin of Hilton Head and

Rick and daughter-in-law Maryann of Bonita Springs, FL / 

Avalon, NJ, two grandchildren, Ryan of Old Greenwich, CT and 

Jennifer of Boston, MA and 4 great-grandchildren and 

sister-in-law Mary Anne Frye.   

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, on March 2, 2004 

and her brother Donald Frye, on February 28, 2023.

 

Mrs. Munro will be inurned in a private ceremony at 

St Francis by The Sea Catholic Church Columbarium.
