Barbara May Ritter

Barbara Ritter was born to Ralph and Erma Ritter on May 1, 1931 in Pueblo, Colorado. Like her older brother, Ralph, she had many friends and was a good student. After graduation from Pueblo Centennial High School in 1949 she went on to receive an Associate of Arts from Pueblo Junior College followed by a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Religion at Bob Jones University. In 1958 she moved to Liberia, West Africa as a missionary for Baptist Mid-Missions where she served her Lord and the people of Liberia in many villages but especially in Yila.  During her tenure in Liberia she and her fellow missionaries dealt with the uncertainty of civil unrest and in 1980 one such event forced her to leave Liberia and return to home in Pueblo. At this point she decided to focus her ministry efforts on the people of Pueblo and also be a caregiver to her aging parents.  She joined the staff at her home church, Parkhill Baptist Church, where she served her church and community for 20 years until she retired to continue serving others in a volunteer capacity. In 2014 she moved from Pueblo to Good Samaritan - Loveland Village where her brother was a resident. Barbara made friends wherever she went and has friends all over the world. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Erma, her brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Miriam and we know she’s enjoying her heavenly reunion with them. She was survived by 2 nephews, 2 nieces and their children as well as several cousins and many of her missionary and ministry friends who were very much family to her. Memorial services will be held for Barbara on Tuesday, July 24th at Good Samaritan - Loveland Village at 1:30 PM and on Wednesday, July 25th at Parkhill Baptist Church, in Pueblo at 1:30 PM. Since Barbara’s heart was always with her friends in Liberia please make any gifts, in lieu of flowers, to Calvary Baptist Church in Monrovia.  You can make your check payable to G.
