It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Louise Schenkel (Blau) announce her sudden passing on July 4, 2020, in Peoria, AZ. Barb was born in Escanaba, MI, on May 16, 1955, to parents Edward and Mary (both deceased). She lived a full and enriched life, traveled often and always loved to spend time gathered with family and friends. She was a connecting force in her neighborhood, the nucleus of parties, and loved to cook and entertain for her many friends and family members. Always enthusiastic, Barb's many interests included crafting, scouting garage and estate sales, RV camping, and shopping. She had a profound love for her family, her numerous friends, her dogs, and she always had more love to give. One of Barb's most memorable qualities was her unrelenting altruism, her willingness to help anyone in need without hesitation or judgement. Empowered by her faith in God, she enriched the lives of everyone in her circle. She was an ear to bend, a shoulder to cry on, and could make anyone feel right at home in her company. Barb will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Jenifer Gessler and Kristen Klassen; siblings, Suzie Blau, Rebecca LaCrosse, and Mark Blau; stepchildren, Justin and Kathleen Schenkel; and many more friends. A celebration of life gathering will be held later this year for family and friends. I'M FREE Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God has laid you see. I took His hand when I heard him call I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee God wanted me now; He set me free. -Author unknown
