Barbara ( Carpenter) Howard Sims Dec. 1, 1932 - Jan. 18, 2021 Barbara Sims passed away peacefully at home of pulmonary disease. She was cared for by her son and daughter-in-law and was enjoying her precious grandchild, her pup and kitty, and her vast social network of children, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren to the very end. Family was so important to her as she relished re-telling family stories, connecting through email and calls and reminding everyone in her orbit that they were loved, cared for and very special. Barbara was the mother of Ross, Sherma (dec.), Lisa (George) and Christian (Cleidiane) and stepmother to Michael (dec.), Robert, Russell, Shawna and Delora. She was a proud grandmother of 19 and even a great-great-grandmother to one! She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, a daughter, a stepson and husband V. Dean Sims. Barbara had been employed in the PVUSD administration office for over 25 years. She was born in Spreckels, CA and resided in the Salinas area for most of her life. She left a legacy of devotion to her family, the creatures around her and most importantly, to God. She will be missed.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
