Barbara Ann Sterry

Barbara Ann Sterry, 71, of Colorado Springs, passed away on May 30, 2024 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She was born January 11, 1953 to John Marquart Sr. and Rae Provost in Amarillo, Texas. Barbara attended Anoka Sr. High School and graduated in 1971. She went on to earn her Associates Degree from Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Barbara met her husband Virgil in 1972, and they were married in July of 1973. Virgil and Barbara spent several years being stationed at various Army bases including California, Italy, and Colorado. They decided to make Colorado their forever home in 1985.
Barbara worked as an administrative assistant at several companies. She was involved with her community and volunteered with the Girl Scouts of Colorado. Barbara was a scout leader from 1987 to 1998. Barbara was also a member of her church Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. She sang in the church choir for many years. Barbara enjoyed bowling and photography.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil W. Sterry; her father, John Marquart Sr; and her mother Rae Provost.
Barbara is survived by her son, Virgil (Tracy) Sterry and daughter Amidon Schar. She leaves behind four grandchildren: Jared Sterry, Audrey Sterry, Xander Schar, and Alaina Schar; and one great-grandson: Connor Sterry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado, 455 Sherman Street, Suite 500 Denver, CO 80203. A celebration of life will occur with details to be determined.
