Barbara A. Volpe

Barbara Volpe (nee Herzic), of Madeira Beach, Florida, 79 passed away November 9, 2021 in Clearwater, Florida. She was born on December 29, 1941 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to the late Steve and Theresa (Varallo) Herzic. She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent Volpe, Jr. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lucy M. Volpe, her brothers Frank (Champ) Herzic, and Steve Herzic, mother-in-law, Lucy Volpe, and sister-in-laws, Charlene Herzic, and Jackie Volpe. She is survived by her sons, John Volpe (Donna) and Vincent Volpe III (Jennifer), and her daughter, Theresa Santos-Volpe (Mercedes). Barbara adored her five grandchildren, Vincent Volpe IV, Noelle Volpe, Ava Santos-Volpe, Jaidon Santos-Volpe, and Lennox Santos-Volpe. Barbara and Vincent were married for 42 years and resided in Crete, Illinois. Together, the two owned and managed real estate property, raised thoroughbred horses, and operated various businesses which included a car dealership, storage facilities, a motel, and a flea market and auction business. The two also enjoyed collecting antiques. An avid reader since childhood, Barbara had an endless appetite for books (and salami), reading more books than a college lit professor. When not reading, she enjoyed playing bingo, drinking Coca-Cola, traveling, cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family. Barbara had a flair for telling stories, had a contagious laugh, and always listened with an open heart. Gathering of friends and family was held Saturday Nov. 13th with funeral service at 1pm at David C. Gross Funeral Home, 6366 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg. The care of Mrs. Volpe and her family has been entrusted to David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg.
