Barbara L. Weber (nee Pytlewski)

Barbara L. Weber, fondly known as Barb to her friends and family, passed away on July 11, 2024 in Oconomowoc, WI at the age of 84. She was born in Milwaukee on September 22, 1939, the only child of Stanley and Theresa Pytlewski. Barb led a life rich in love and community.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Sebastian Weber, and cherished by her daughters, Laura Weber Smith and Linda Selby (husband Chad). She leaves behind her four beloved grandchildren, Hannah Smith, River Smith, Amanda Selby and Erin Selby.

A graduate of Mercy High School, Barb met her future husband for the first time when she served as the maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding, where Seb was the best man. A year later roles were reversed when Barb and Seb got married at St. Hyacinth’s Church in Milwaukee, and Ilse and Meinolf Steinhage stood by their side at the altar. The two couples continued to be lifelong friends.

Barb and Seb Weber celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in January 2024.

Barb devoted her life to family as a dedicated stay-at-home mom. When her children were older, Barb discovered a new career one day when she walked across the street to the Saelens Corporation and asked if they had a job for her. They did, in fact, and Barb worked in the Accounts Receivable department at the company until her retirement.

As a young wife and mother, Barb was involved with scouting, and volunteered with both the Cub Scouts and the Brownies. Throughout her life, Barb was an active member and volunteer at her parish, St. Mary’s Help of Christians Catholic Church in Sullivan.

Barb was an avid reader, and loved spending quiet time at home with her husband and a good novel. She is also fondly remembered by family for her enthusiasm and skill as a Canasta player, always ready for a lively game of cards.

A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. Mary’s Help of Christians Catholic Church in Sullivan at 10:00 a.m. with a one-hour visitation held prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
