Barbara Jean Weeks

Barbara Jean Peterson Weeks passed away suddenly and peacefully on February 9, 2017, in Olympia, Washington, at age 87. She was born on February 2, 1930 to Christian and Dagmar Peterson in Shine, Washington. She was the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Orting High School and went on to graduate from a secretarial school in Los Angeles, California. There were multiple employers, including the State of Washington, who benefited from her quick typing skills and organizational abilities. Barbara was married to Thomas Glen Wiley for 14 years. Later in life, when she was traveling, she met and fell in love with John Weeks. They married and lived in San Diego until his sudden passing in 1989. This was devastating to her, and she eventually moved north in order to be with family. In her elder years, she loved to visit with extended family and friends. At her 80th birthday, 150 people came from all over to wish her well. One of her most loved hobbies was singing karaoke. She was well known for her Hank Williams and Willie Nelson covers. Barbara is survived by her four daughters, Jana, Jill, Tina (Jeff), and Tova (Ken); and three grandchildren, Kate, Tommy and Grace.
